Summer Singing Course

Home_

For the second year the course will be led by Toby Wardman, an experienced choral leader, whose infectious enthusiasm and meticulous ear for detail will delight and enthuse in return. He will be supported by non-teaching assistants, Clare Wardman and Caroline Lewis, who will be on hand to help with any problems and will be singing alongside you.

We’re aiming to introduce people to music they may not have come across before, together with a small amount of arrangements of more familiar repertoire. As the course is for female voices, we anticipate that most of the music will be new to everyone. The course content will be announced closer to the time but this is a selection of what we covered at ProvenceSing 2008.

Ave Verum Corpus - Poulenc

Ave Maria - Holst

Even Such Is Time - Chilcott

Mieli - Liisa Matveinen

Tota Pulchra Es - Duruflé

Viva L’Amour - trad.

Geographical Fugue - Toch

One day during the week will be free
for exploration and relaxation

Pitching a singing course at the right people is always difficult. We are very keen not to put people off who feel they might not reach a “standard”. We obviously don’t want people to feel uncomfortable on the course because they feel left behind. However we would also like to cover lots of music, introducing people to music they may not have encountered before as well as some more familiar. Therefore, to get the best out of this course, an ability to read music well is needed. It would be fantastic if some of the participants sight sing, since this speeds up the learning process for everyone, but it is not a requirement. If you are unsure whether this is the course for you, or are unsure of your abilities, please feel free to talk to one of us, or we can put you in touch with past participants.
